Jeff Banks has had a considerable impact on British Fashion for 40 years. From the year he left college starting Clobber -one of the five leading boutiques in London during the sixties, Banks fashion influence has been irrepressible.

Clobber grew to be a multi -million pound business, blazing a trail across Britain and America. This being a success he began his own design label in 1969 and during the early seventies he showed his collections in New York, London, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Düsseldorf. Claiming the coveted titles of British Designer of the Year, and British Retailer of the Year in the early eighties.

Jeff Banks founded both the Smirnoff Awards and Graduate Fashion Week in 1991 that plays host to 100 colleges and 800 students each year. Following that in 1996 Jeff conceived and launched The Clothes Show which regularly boasted an audience in excess of 9 million in Britain and 150 million on the World Service and revolutionized the way that fashion was presented on T.V.

In May 2010 Jeff offered to design the match day 'walk-on' suits for the cash-strapped Portsmouth FC team for their FA Cup final appearance.

Banks has designed a suiting range for Debenhams, Studio by Jeff Banks and Jeff Banks London, and has also created a range of home products exclusive to Debenhams. The concept breaks down into 3 styles: classic, modern and global, each with a different design of handwriting. His innovative designs and ideas means each collection continues to be spectacular.

Style is all about … reflecting your own personality.

My personal style is … still routed in the modernist movement of the early 60s.

My collection is …modernist pieces updated to the 21st century.

I’m inspired by … advances in the development of sports technology in clothing.

My must-have item is … the 100% linen suit.

A woman looks great when … she is wearing the right shoes.

A man should always … make sure his clothes are clean.

My most treasured possession is …my Condor bike.

If I weren’t a designer … I would be an architect as that is what I trained for.
