An Interview with Preen

The designer duo tell us all about their new Studio by Preen collection...

New and exclusive to Debenhams, the Studio by Preen collection offers a contemporary edit of modern day wardrobe essentials infused with the designer duo's signature handwriting. With on-trend gingham, reworked denim and light-as-air cotton shirting, the collection offers a fresh take on classic prints and silhouettes. We caught up with Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi to find out more.

Shop Studio by Preen

How would you describe the Studio by Preen collection?

Think utility chic with plenty of new twists on classic wardrobe staples.

"It's the modern woman's wardrobe with lots of cool, everyday pieces. "

Where did you draw your inspiration from?

We started by looking at the classic and timeless pieces that make up a modern woman's wardrobe, such as the shirt, the trench and the tea dress, and then updated them with the Preen attitude of effortless cool.

How does Studio by Preen complement your main collection?

This collection adds that everyday easy element to the Preen girl's wardrobe.

What do you like about high-street collaborations?

The fact that we reach a new customer and are offering Preen to a wider audience.

What's your secret to working so well together?

There is no secret, it just works for us. We like the same things and we love being together.

If you could pick one piece which would be the hero?

"The gingham shirt is a great piece for any woman of any age and will give your look an instantly cool edge. "

Having children yourselves, what are your top style tips for mums on the go?

A chic oversized sweater is perfect thrown over skinny jeans and a tee to look effortlessly on-trend on the school run. And we'd recommend a trench as the perfect cover-up for popping to the shops.

What would you say are the key silhouettes for the summer season?

It's all about diversity and dressing to suit your style, but you can't go to wrong with classic pieces.

You've dressed the likes of Michelle Obama and the Duchess of Cambridge. Who else would you love to dress?

We have been fortunate enough to dress the most wonderful women of such a diverse age and style that I'm not sure who there is we don't already dress, but we are massive Meryl Streep fans.
