THE STORY

Eric Van Peterson and his wife Lyn opened their first fine jewellery shop on Walton Street, London, nearly 30 years ago. The couple's signature style is inspired by travelling the world, as their designs incorporate classic looks with modern graphic jewellery as well as ethnic pieces. Van Peterson jewellery retains clearly recognisable characteristics, which run through all of their collections - notably their bold use of contrasting materials and striking geometric shapes.

The range comprises elegant pieces with graphic silver detail and quartz set in silver and gilt; crystal and freshwater pearls strung on leather and semi-precious stones juxtaposed to create colourful multi-strand chokers, and many other striking and original pieces.

Their innovation in jewellery design has propelled them to the forefront of their trade in London. By the end of 1998, Van Peterson had opened concessions at both Liberty's and Harrods.

THE COLLECTION

June 1998 saw the launch of ‘Van Peterson 925'; the first designer jewellery collection to be signed by Debenhams. Debenhams is renowned for being the first retailer to groundbreaking initiatives to take directional designers to the high street.

The collection Eric and Lyn have created is made of the highest quality silver, with freshwater pearl detail, engraving and asymmetric designs.

Style is all about … being yourself.

My personal style is … a mix of distressed jeans, waistcoats and smart shirts.

My Autumn/Winter collection is … simple and feminine.

I’m inspired by … ancient jewellery.

My Autumn/Winter must-have item is … the retro diamante wristwatch.

A woman looks great when … she looks stylish and comfortable.

A man should always … be a gentleman.

My most treasured possession is …a sand coloured scarf made by Zegna.

If I weren’t working in fashion … I would be a film maker.

My top tip is … there are no rules, except one; if it looks good, go for it!
