Makes a very nice gift, something differentI bought Afternoon Tea for two for some of my friends as I thought it would be something different. They invited me along and we went to The Carlton Hotel in Edinburgh. It was very nice but we were disappointed that the food didn't come on a nice cake stand, instead it came on 3 large plates which took up most of the table! There were 4 of us and it seems that if there are more than 2 people the food comes served on plates rather than cake stands. The sandwiches were tiny and only 3 each and had obviously been lying out for sometime as they were hard around the edges. However, the scones were beautiful, 2 each, and came with jam and cream. Then there was a selection of cakes, 3 each. The general consensus was that we would have preferred more sandwiches and less cakes. Before the food came, we were all given a glass of sparkling wine, my friend and I don't drink so we were able to swap this for a soft drink which was fine. All in all, we did enjoy it, however we think a few small changes would make all the difference. Would definitely recommend this as a gift.
