Superb belt - but so rare to find!
This is an excellent belt, a reversible two-colour leather belt with a brass plate buckle. But what is special about it is that such belts are so rare to find. Why? Let's see the two other ubiquitous options.
Firstly we have the standard pin buckle, the most common. The problem is that you have to get an exact size - too long and the excess will just stick out clumsily in front. With the plate-buckle belt (like this Thomas Nash one), all the excess just tucks away hidden behind the belt!
You would think manufacturers would see the sense, but no! Throughout the 2000s they went the other way, putting the buckle- loop on the front, so that even on a plate-buckle, the excess hangs in front clumsily! They called it high fashion and this ugly beast is the second common type of belt seen today, usually in all the Designer brands. Sadly, it has all but driven the decent plate-buckles out of circulation.
May Thomas Nash long continue, making good belts for the discerning!
After a few months wear the buckle just fell apart. VERY POOR quality. Leather ok but not much use without a buckle that cannot be repaired. Keep your receipt so you can return it.
Nice quality, good as a gift
I was after a particular style leather belt and buckle. This one fitted the needs and budget. Slightly thick leather but for the price, one cannot complain. Recommended.
Purchased this belt in June 2012, disappointed to have the buckle break away from its anchor on the belt in September. Could be a one off fault, as I had previously purchased the same belt and had it for a number of years.
All that glitters .....
I like concealed buckle belts and this one has much to recommend it - I'm buying more because I like my first - but the title is the one marring feature. The gilt on the buckle has worn off a bit over time. Apart from that all good. Quality leather, easily reversible, slick purchase.
Almost 5 stars all round
Excellent belt, BUT - loses one star because: Easily reversible, but to wear the brown side, one must first remove wording printed in gold lettering close to the buckle ("Thomas Nash" and size details). With a solvent of some kind, no doubt, but what will safely remove it ? No information is given, but I would like to know.
This lettering would really be better on a peel-off label.
Husband very pleased with the product. Seems well made and expects to get much wear out of it.
