'Step 1' skin equaliser mattifying primer 15ml is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for oily skin The best primer I've used, I have very oily skin and this primer keeps my skin matte for an 8 hour shift.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaves face dry and cakes make up Thought this would be great for my oily skin but just leaves my make up dry and looks caked on. The application is fine at first but after a while all i can see on OILY skin is dry patches where the products are clinging to my face. I'm glad i bought the smaller size, may try it again in summer months but wouldn't buy again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful texture Don't know what i was expecting but i gave this away because it needs blending which i was not expecting from a primer. Not suitable for darker skinned people, leaves white residue and makes makeup look cakey. It does however combat all signs of oily skin

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great primer As someone with very oily skin, I was bought the sample size of this to see what it was like - and I love it! It has great oil control, and works wonders for me. Definitely recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Doesn't do much This doesnt keep my oiliness mattified anymre than just setting with powder did. Don't really think it does much. Upon application my skin does feel matte and smooth but I notice my t zone still gets oily just as it always has done before I even started using this. I don't have particularly oily skin to begin with, normal skin with a t zone that starts to get a bit oily throughout the day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A decent primer I've only used this a couple of times so far, so my thoughts on it may change in the future. I bought it specifically to use for a wedding in May, because my skin is oily and my make-up tends not to last for more than 3-4 hours. This primer receives a lot of hype on the internet, so I thought I'd give it a try. While it seems quite a smooth consistency when you squeeze it out, when applied to the skin it feels thicker and heavier than your average primer. It doesn't apply smoothly; it seems to be quite silicone-heavy and so if you rub it, it will pill and roll up into little lumps on the skin's surface. The best way to apply it is to swipe it over the skin in small amounts, without rubbing it in, and then press it in to ensure there's no excess. When applied, it gives a comfortable matte finish: foundation still applies smoothly over the top, and skin doesn't appear overly dry as with other mattifying primers. As for the actual mattifying effect, on my skin it seems to last slightly longer than the other primers I've tried - after around 5 hours I needed to blot my face and reapply powder. This is on a sunnier day when I am out and about in London; during winter and on days when I am not as physically active, I expect it will have a slightly longer wear time. While I am a little disappointed that it didn't significantly increase the wear time of my make-up, I accept that with oily skin no product can prevent oil production entirely. This primer is satisfactory; it does the job, and I would consider buying it again in the future. But given that it needs a little more care when applying, and can feel quite heavy on the skin, I would use it primarily on special occasions when I need my make-up to be high coverage and last a little longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works I used this underneath the HD Foundation and it works well on my oily skin. To expect to stay oily with only a primer is unrealistic. You have to cleanse moisturise and tone before using this product as well as a good setting spray all over to combat oily skin . It works when used in combination with everything else and only then can you expect near to a flawless lasting makeup application.
