Rated 5 out of 5Â by Hamsterpants Thumbs up from a smaller busted woman!
As a small busted woman (28B/30A) it's a total nightmare trying to find nice, well-fitting bras without being relegated to the teen's section (which are not designed to fit adult women and lack style options) or some bland, non-underwired and frequently very unflattering design. I've found this balcony design from Debenhams to be my champion bra in my undies hunt thus far!
Quality: I'd rate excellent. I have some other designs in exactly the same style which I must have had at least a couple of years now and they've washed and worn extremely well. The elastic in the straps and bands has remained strong and supple and the colours haven't faded much, if at all. I only recently had my very escapee underwire, but it was an easy repair. I'm sure they'll continue to soldier on a while yet!
Value: I was going to rate 'good' because I always have a hang-up about the cost of bras, but given how I've just sang the praises of their longevity, I've reconsidered and changed my rating to excellent!
Style: The bras are a nice, everyday style but it's very disappointing that these are the only colour option in this design and have been for ages (believe me, I check back regularly!) As another reviewer pointed out, the cups are constructed with two little ridges rising vertically over them which can show up from under close-fitting garments. The scalloped picot elastic on the straps and the little piece of lace across the top of each cup are nice decorative touches without getting too fussy.
Fit: The 30A has proved to be a very good fit for me, even though I measure 28" under the bust. (When they're new, they feel very snug indeed at 30", so I doubt I'd want to go to a smaller band size even if it was available.) Once I've done the band up, I definitely need to bend over and 'scoop and swoop' to make sure everything is in place (ladies, you should be doing this anyway!) however I do need to make sure I poke any rogue nipples back in as the cups are relatively shallow. As a smaller busted lady with more fullness on the bottom of my breasts, this shallower cup suits me perfectly - however if your breast shape is more full on top and/or depending on your nipple placement, you may find this style is not suited for you.
In conclusion: Excellent quality, value and fit in my experience but please, Debenhams, let's have some more style options in these!
Rated 1 out of 5Â by Dorah30 Terrible design
I bought a set of two after 40 minutes bra fitting and I really loved the flattering style of these bras. I was wearing the bra for two hours when I realised it cuts in on my side and a couple of hours later it started to cut in the middle.
Tags have been removed, and can't return them, waste of money.
Rated 5 out of 5Â by Anna F Pretty, well-fitting, supportive bras at a great price
I bought three pairs of these bras three years ago and am only now having to replace them, due to the second instance of an underwire poking out. The same happened with one of the other bras a year ago, so that's two down now, but the other four are still going strong, despite me wearing them all a lot.
As a 36B with a wide back and relatively small cup, I find it very hard to find bras that are comfortable and supportive - my primary concerns - and that these are pretty as well and very decently priced are added bonuses. I would highly recommend them.
Rated 4 out of 5Â by Shopper Pretty good basic bras
These bras seem pretty decent given their price. I prefer a balconette style and have been looking for some everyday ones that don't cost an arm and a leg. Overall I am happy with the fit and style of these, my only criticism is the piping detail down the cup, which shows through most of my clothes. I would have preferred a smooth cup. Too early to say how they stand the test of time with washing etc but so far so good.
