Cream bonded leather 'Bjorn' recliner chair and stool set
Tough to put together
The instruction booklet says "2 person assembly". But, even with assistance, it took me 4 hours (rather than the supposed "1 hour") to put it together.
The instructions themselves are poor, as well: I had to screw the arms into the upper section of the chair before I attached them to the base. It wasn't easy locating the screw-holes at the back of the chair, either.
The finished chair doesn't recline back very much. However, it does swivel around nicely. It's also quite comfortable in the upright position with its fairly high seat, making it easy for someone old (or with a bad back etc) to get up out of it.
Very comfortable chairs. Worth the money.
I ordered 2 of these from Debenhams after checking with the Sales Assistant that they werre easy to assemble. However after reading the reviews I was tempted to cancel the order because they all said they had trouble assembling them.
My son assembled them for me and it took him just over an hour to do both so dont be put off by some of the comments.
a wonderful stylish and comfortable chair
bought this 3 plus years ago and loved it alas the last couple of months the arms and head rest has started to peel and other parts and my once stylish chair looks rather shabby have noticed other reviews stating the same if i had known earlier would not have purchased i wish there was some way i could fix it guarantee is only for 1 year if u change furniture every 3 years buy if not dont
Comfortable chair, HOWEVER
We purchased a chair from Debenhams under a different Scandinavian name, which looks identical to the "Bjorn" chair. Our chair is only three years old and we will have to dispose of it due to the bonded leather cracking after two years and lifting off the backing material of the seat and the headrest. To future purchasers of this product, it will be worth you researching bonded leather where you will find reports that the "leather" will break up and lift.
We see that similar reviews have had the same problem as ourselves.
We certainly did not expect to spend money out on a chair that didn't last two years.
We certainly would consider paying extra and buying a genuine leather chair.
Hope this helps future buyers.
This chair, when assembled, is very stylish and comfortable. It took around 45 minutes to put together but we are very happy with our purchase.
Arms peel after 3 years
I never write reviews but I felt that I needed to warn fellow shoppers. I bought one of these chairs in cream and was very pleased with it for three years. It is a very comfortable chair which does take a bit of effort to assemble. The big problem is the bonded leather peels after around three years! The arms on my chair are now in an awful state and I have had to order a new chair from elsewhere as this one can't be repaired.
Took longer than 1 hr to assemble but worth the effort. Not much recline in the backrest. Look stylish.
Cracked & peeled so called leather!!!
We bought 2 of these about 3years ago, we've been really pleased with them so comfortable. However the so called leather!!!! Has cracked & peeled off headrest, arms now starting on the seat. Would of expected them to of lasted longer. Beginning to wish we had bought fabric chairs.... So if you want them to stay looking good for more than 18 months don't buy them....
