Large grey 'Chesterfield' sofa
Fabulous sofa for a great price
This is a gorgeous sofa. I get so many comments on it from friends asking where I got it from.
It is not a squidgy, squishy sofa but a very supportive one with strong, firm back and arms. Perfect for putting your feet up and reading the paper! I would highly highly recommend.
I bought the 2 seater, 3 seater and foot stool in the sales and took a risk as i'd never seen them in store before only the website. But I absolutely love these. The colour is gorgeous and not like the swatch sample I was sent. It is soft to the touch and very comfy for a Chesterfield. Very happy customer!
I have given the Value & Style a good rating simply because the price I paid was very discounted due to sale and further online code for discount. They look nice!
HOWEVER, you only have to sit on my large grey chesterfield to understand the 1 star review I am giving.
I have had previous fabric sofas and understand the quality of fabrics and these are very thin and would stain very quickly. The frame of the sofa is so light that my 11 year old can lift on their own!
We are going to buy bespoke seat inners for our sofas as these are awful. A few months in and they are showing signs of significant wear.
The worst thing is that the cushions are a single pad of foam that curl when you sit. You cannot sit comfortably and they forever need adjusting. If you are buying these for everyday use please actually go to a Debenhams store and try before you buy. They are simply the worst sofas I have bought and would I regret this purchase.
5/5 from me!
I love my new sofa set. Bargain price and I am very pleased. Perfect addition to our first home. We have had many compliments. They are firm and the back is solid which is good to see. Great value for money and I have a feeling they will be lasting me for years. Very happy customer.
Slightly smaller than I expected?
I agree with previous reviewers, this grey sofa has a good quality look and feel to it but it is not the type of sofa to sink into, however the the chesterfield style is not ultra comfortable anyway.
It is stylish and robust, we have bought contrasting cushions and it is perfect for our second lounge ie it is not in use every day.One thing I would mention is that I found the dimensions slightly smaller than advertised.
I believe the current sale price is the true value of the sofa, however I am entirely satisfied and would recommend. Debenham's provided excellent communication and delivery was very smooth.
Beautiful modern example of a Chesterfield sofa!
Just got hold of my large grey sofa today. I had spent many hours online trailing through various websites trying to select a chesterfield of the right style , colour (grey velvet) and proportions for my living room at the right price, this was among my top 5 on the whole web! As I live in Northern Ireland, Debenhams was one of the very few companies that didn't add a 'huge $$$' delivery surcharge to my order - which along with the sale price was ultimatley why I settled with this sofa.
As others have described, this robust grey sofa has a beautiful silver hue and in combination with its daintly turned wooden feet #much better than the standard bun feet#, lend the sofa a luxurious feel. As with all Chesterfields the back is low but I'm surprised no one has mentioned how much lumbar support this provides- I find it very comfortable. The seats are attached by velcro to the base #so won't slip forward, but can't be turned over# and are firm, but are springy underneath and return to their original shape #always desirable#.
Whilst I found the sofa very well described online, seeing it in the flesh is all the more wonderful. While not my 'dream' chesterfield shape or fabric, this sofa is well constructed and feels hard wearing - I think it will continue to be a great looking wee sofa for years to come. Exceptionally fast lead-time on this sofa - coming from someone who has been chairless for 6 weeks- this has made me a very happy customer! Much appreciated :)
Nice style but not comfort a disappointment.
A nice style and fabric colour is lovely (silver-grey) but these sofa's are not as comfortable as we would have hoped for given the price (even in the sale), and I can't believe these would ever have been worth any more than the sale price we did pay! The seat is quite shallow (front to back) and the cushions are a hardish foam, which means you don't really get to sit into it comfortably - so it's not a great curl up and read a book kind of sofa.
It's a pity and I guess we're stuck with them now, but it goes to show you should always try sofa's in a shop before committing to buy on the internet if possible - a lesson learned!
We had seen the grey chesterfield in-store and bought two of the large sofas. It's described as grey but the fabric has a lovely shimmer to it - in the sunlight it has a a beautiful silver tone. We chose this colour as it will go with any decor. The sofas are very good quality and I'm sure they will last for years.
