Kenwood BM450 breadmaker
Poor Durability and Rubbish Service from Kenwood
This was a very unsatisfactory purchase. It has only been used a few times and has recently developed a fault where it keeps tripping the electricity circuit. I have researched this on the internet and apparently the most frequent cause is a faulty seal on the element causing moisture to leak and trip the system
As we bought this product from Debenhams a while ago it is outside of the guarantee period so it really has nothing to do with them, and we no longer have the receipt anyway. Therefore I approached Kenwood and explained the problem making the point it had hardly ever been used and therefore was not fit for purpose.
Kenwood have refused point blank to accept any responsibility even to check it to validate it was a genuine complaint and told me all I can do is get a paid inspection and get it repaired if it's economic to do so. Pretty shabby and I for one won't be using their products again.
I got this breadmaker for Christmas and I have been making excellent bread since. If you put the ingredients in, switch on, and select a programme, the machine does the rest with no trouble at all. I have tried various types of bread including a potato and rosemary loaf which I made by adapting one of the many easy to follow recipes that came with the machine. This was also perfect. The delay timer and the automatic dispenser are handy and you can set the machine to have fresh warm bread for breakfast, which is a real luxury.
Also very hand is the rapid bake function with which you can get excellent bread made in 58 minutes!
If I have to criticise it at all it is worth mentioning that it is quite a large machine, but I would say it's worth making the space for it. I was also disappointed to have mine break down shortly after purchase. This was however very quickly put right by Kenwood who arranged to have it picked up from the house, and returned it fully operational after only a few days. I also think that this is unusual, as I read many other reviews of the product before purchase, and I found no one else who complained of any reliability issues.
So I am very pleased with it and would certainly recommend it.
