After reading reviews on several different coffee grinders, and people mentioning that the fine grind wasn't fine enough on some alternative machines. I decided to buy this one based on what others have said with regard to a fine grind consistency.
After a few adjustments of the grinding settings, I have found the perfect grind setting for my espresso machine, not too fine and not too coarse.

Wifey bought the GVX2 for me as a Christmas pressie. I've given it a quick whiz with a couple of spoons of beans and I am impressed (this is the 1st burr grinder I've owned) 1st spoon was on finest setting, came out like snuff powder. Next spoonful a couple of clicks off fine, looked a bit better made a latte and it was very nice. The difference in taste after using a blade grinder was quite a suprise.
Only give 4 stars for now as I've only owned the thing for a few hours, but it looks promising.

I had previously purchased this coffee grinder for my husband 4 years ago. He absolutely loves it and has turned into a coffee snob, preferring coffee at home to anywhere else! Not sure how long these are supposed to last, but it has been used every day, sometimes two or three times a day, for the last 4 years and was getting tired, so we decided to replace it.

In theory it does what it's supposed to. How it does it is another matter: the particle size is very inconsistent. With fine grind there is plenty of coarse coffee, and with a coarse - plenty of dust. Using with an espresso machine it is very difficult to pull a good shot, or maintain any consistency in quality of the shots. It's a little bit better with coarse grinds and cafetieres. If it wasn't for a £20 voucher, which effectively made it half price I probably wouldn't have bothered.

design flaw between the internal I/C card and the plastic on off button will guarantee to disappoint after some use
Rated 5 out of 5Â by Chris999 Great for Espresso or filter machines
I bought this grinder after reading plenty of reviews of different grinders.
I use both Espresso and filter coffee machines at home.
This grinder produces a fine enough grind for Espresso, setting one is actually to fine!
Setting 3 is perfect for my Espresso machine creating perfect crema and the same texture as my pre-ground Costa Coffee (Costa ground it for me for a Espresso machine).
-Easy to use
-sturdy build quality
-great price for a Burr grinder

Unlike many 'coffee grinders' this machine does grind not chop the beans. Any coffee expert will tell you that grinding the beans releases the most flavour. I can vouch for this Krups machine. You load the beans into the hopper set the grind and number of cups. I would say their reckoning of cups is small coffee cups, so if you are making for mugs set it higher, eg I set it for four cups which gives me half a cafetiere of quite strong black coffee. As to Grind I find that the most coarse setting is suitable for the cafetiere.

While this may not be as aesthetically pleasing as others such as the Bodum Grinder it has a burr grinder motor unlike the other cheaper versions which are blade and cut up the coffee grounds to uneven sizes. The burr ensures you get a uniform ground and also crushes the bean to allow the coffee oils to be released which basically makes for a better tasting cup of coffee.
While the buttons on this one can be a little tricky as they contain sensors to ensure the correct parts are on position, once you get the hang of it and use the brush that's included to sweep out any loose grinds around the sensors after every couple of uses it works perfectly. Highly recommended,
