I bought this as a present for my husband who loves his coffee. We were advised by a "coffee expert" in a store, and he recommended this model to us. The only downside he could come up with are that it's a little top heavy. This is true, but as long as you are gentle when pulling down the handle it's really not an issue.
The folding cup support was one of the features that helped us decide to buy this model, as so many only have the space for a small cup.
My husband says that he can't believe how quickly the Pixie makes him a coffee, and he likes the majority of the coffees that you get with it. His biggest problem so far has been which coffees to order when he finishes the initial selection!

I was taken by surprise at first by how noisy the machine is but actually it isn't a problem and because it dispenses a wonderful cup of coffee, in such a short time, it doesn't bother me at all now. Nespresso have a monopoly on selling the pods but they aren't too expensive and compare very favourably with coffee shop prices. The result is a very special cup of espresso (small cup) or lungo (large cup) that I rate better than coffee shop bought. I wish there was a Nespresso boutique in my city though as they only have shops that sell the pods in London, Birmingham & Manchester at the moment and so I've to pay for p&p. They also don't have a recycling point here but I do the necessary myself by taking the grounds out of the pods for my compost bin and I put the pods in the tin recycling bank. This Pixie machine is an automatic version so I can regulate how much coffee I get in the cup and this is a great bonus. I haven't used the aerocino but I believe it's equally as brilliant as the Pixie.
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Legislation
From 1st July 2007, all retailers of electrical goods must comply with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) legislation.
This is a scheme to prevent all such waste being disposed of in general landfill sites and to promote recycling of components and materials. The legislation aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic equipment on the environment by creating products with recycling in mind and encouraging reuse, recycling, and recovery of WEEE.
How do I know what product is "WEEE"? The definition of a WEEE product is one whose primary function is dependent on electrical currents to carry out the main function, e.g. a toaster. However, some product, such as a child’s soft toy with an electric circuit, is not classed as WEEE as its primary function is a toy. For further details on product definitions, please click here.
