Nine by Savannah Miller

New to Designers at Debenhams

Out of the wilderness and straight into the Debenhams designer portfolio, Savannah Miller, with her debut collection, has arrived - bringing with her quite the tale to tell. Here, we reveal Nine need-to-know facts about Savannah, her latest venture and the story behind it...

Savannah's designer credentials were awarded by the presitgious Central Saint Martins. In the world of fashion, you're aren't anybody unless CSM says so. Giles Deacon and Matthew Williamson also make up the alumni, so Savannah (and Debenhams) is in good company.

The designer recently returned to the UK fresh from a year long spell in Panama. Married to an eco-builder and bushcraft instructor, the whole family (complete with three young children) uprooted their Cotswold-based life and headed for an existence void of running water or electricity.

Back in civilisation, Savannah re-embraced her love of hot baths, as well as her talent for design, creating a 70-piece cothing range and 45-piece accessories line for our Designers at Debenhams portfolio. So can we expect London-style statement pieces or Panama-inspired separates?

Well, along with actress sister Sienna, Savannah is credited with the popularity of boho, so expect Nine to depict an eclectic touch of chic, with embellishment and embroidery detailing. Very cool and contemporary, Savannah claims to have gone for an effortless vintage vibe, but not shabby - the collection is not an excuse to stop brushing your hair.

Key items in the range include the tie neck blouse, sequin jacket, star embroidered top, embellished pocket jean, lace detail jumpsuit, maxi embellished dress and contrast Crombie coat. Got that? Sienna apparently loves the black sequin dress, oh so reminiscent of Yves Saint Laurent.

The collection is named so due to the Savannah feeling that the number Nine is lucky for her: Lyra, her daughter, is named after a constellation most visible at 9pm.

A self-confessed fan of all things Isabel Marant, Savannah credits the French fashion house with inspiring Nine, yet Savannah's own signature style is also evident. "I always have a signature black jacket and fantastic knitwear", she recently informed Style magazine, both of which feature prominently in the range

Top model Carmen Kass was selected as the face of the collection; blonde, beautiful and the personification of bohemian glamour.

The aformentioned Style article states: 'If Savannah is finally ready to emerge from the shadow of her sister, it could be now'. With plans to expand Nine over the coming seasons, we're certainly inclined to agree.
