Albert Terhune was an early 20th century writer and dog breeder. The public knows him best for his novels about his beloved collie sand their adventures. He was a breeder of collies at his Sunnybank Kennels, the lines of which still exist in todays Rough Collies. Lad, A Dog is his best known work. His estate, Sunnybank, in Wayne, New Jersey is currently maintained as TerhuneSunnybank Park. It is open to the public and visitors can visit the graves of many of the dogs mentioned in Terhunes works. His Dog was published in 1922. This is a wonderful animal story for children and adults alike.
