The publications of the Hakluyt Society (founded in 1846) made available edited (and sometimes translated) early accounts of exploration. This volume contains two diaries about Turkey. Dallam, an organbuilder, was sent by Queen Elizabeth to Constantinople in 1600. Covel went with the British ambassador from 16701677, and travelled widely.
