Baking soda/powder is a mixture of bicarbonate of soda + cream of tartar and acts as a raising agent in baking. Therefore it gets packed on a food safe line.While it can be used for cleaning, usually the price is a lot higher than buying simply bicarbonate of soda. Bicarbonate of soda does not get packed on a food safe line, therefore it is not recommended for consumption.
