Description

The narrative weaves in the story of Bhanavar the Beautiful, a tale of love, loss, and the supernatural. Bhanavar, a stunningly beautiful maiden, becomes obsessed with a magical jewel possessed by a serpent. Her desire for the jewel leads to the tragic death of her betrothed, Zurvan, who is bitten by the serpent while retrieving it for her. Overcome with guilt and grief, Bhanavar flees, only to be discovered by a desert chieftain who is captivated by her beauty. Merediths work is rich with allegory and poetic language, exploring the complexities of human desire and the consequences of transformation.
