Use a low setting and the upholstery attachment of your vacuum cleaner to avoid any damage to the fabric. Just make sure to vacuum in the direction of the pile. Alternatively using a sofa hand brush can fluff the fibres back up and keep the fabric and colour intact. Fabric can absorb stains quickly, so removing them as soon as possible is best. Soak up any excess liquid with a clean, dry cloth, then spot-clean the area with a fabric upholstery cleaner following the instructions on the bottle.
