HQC Zinc Phosphate Primer is modified alkyd, anti-corrosive primer designed for the protection of steelwork. Whilst optimum performance will only be achieved by applying to well-prepared substrates, HQC Zinc Phosphate Primer will adhere well to minimally prepared surfaces. HQC Zinc Phosphate Primer has been formulated to provide fast touch dry times and rapid hardness development. Primer is suitable for use under a wide variety of conventional finishes, combining excellent adhesion and ease of application.

Once your surface is properly prepared, you’re ready to apply HQC Zinc Phosphate Primer, a specially formulated solution that provides optimal protection, superior adhesion, and excellent rust inhibition for metal surfaces. Easy to apply with a brush, roller, or airless sprayer, this primer is ideal for both interior and exterior use on railings, gates, fixtures, and industrial equipment, creating a strong foundation for topcoats. For best results, ensure all metal surfaces are clean, dry, and free from rust before application, and allow the primer to dry fully prior to painting over it. To achieve perfect adhesion and durability with HQC Paint, follow three simple preparation steps: clean, repair, and sand pre-painted surfaces, applying a base coat or primer on fresh plaster, wood, or metal (a mist coat can be created by thinning the paint with 50% water); fill and repair wall cracks to reduce damp risks; and make sure surfaces are fully dry, dust-free, and free from condensation or flaking paint. Keep in mind that mould, condensation, and damp will return if root causes such as poor ventilation or water ingress aren’t addressed. With proper preparation, HQC Zinc Phosphate Primer ensures lasting protection and a reliable base for your paintwork.
