The AV-8B was developed and implemented to operate from catapult-free aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships as well as improvised airstrips. Thanks to these features it has been widely used by the United States Marine Corps even in operational contexts. Able to carry an offensive load consisting of air-to-air missiles, guided bombs and air-to-surface missiles, the AV-8B is characterized by a good flexibility in use and the ability to carry out many types of missions.
