Description

Latin Name: Foeniculum Vulgare Part of Plant Used: Crushed Seeds Source: Ukraine Extraction Method: Steam Distillation Fennel Essential Oil is extracted from the sweet fennel plant, Foeniculum vulgare var. dulce, through steam distillation of its crushed seeds. Known for its digestive benefits, it is widely used to support the treatment of various stomach-related ailments. In aromatherapy, fennel oil is also applied for skin care, helping with oily skin, wrinkles, and concerns related to obesity. It is believed to enhance courage, resolve, and emotional strength. The oil is a popular remedy for flatulence, constipation, colic, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, and dyspepsia, and is also said to assist with weight loss by promoting a natural sense of fullness. Its diuretic properties may help reduce cellulite, while its toning effects are believed to support spleen and liver function. Fennel oil also has cleansing and firming benefits for the skin, making it useful for reducing the appearance of bruises. It should be used in moderation and avoided during pregnancy, lactation, and by individuals with breast cancer or epilepsy. The name “Fennel” comes from the Latin word foenum, meaning hay. In medieval times it was called “Fenkle” and was valued by ancient Chinese, Egyptians, and Romans, who believed it promoted long life, courage, and protection from evil spirits. Historically, fennel was used to strengthen eyesight, treat snakebites, and ease colic.
