The Bees' debut still sounds gloriously homemade in the best possible way. Recorded by Paul Butler and Aaron Fletcher in a home studio in Butler's parents' garden on the Isle of Wight, Sunshine Hit Me blends loose indie rock with flashes of reggae, soul and psychedelic pop, all held together by an easy summer feel. A Minha Menina remains the obvious calling card, but the album's charm comes from how naturally the whole set moves from ramshackle groove to melodic haze.SIDE ONE:1. Punchbag2. Angryman3.
