William Marshalls life was changed dramatically when a serious motorcycle accident resulted in the loss of his left foot. Each loss takes a little of us with it. In Williams case it took much more from him than he ever thought conceivable. He suffered the unrelenting grief and selfpity that accompanies such a loss. Rebuilding his life after the amputation was a series of hurdles to achieve success. With his sense of humor intact, the support of family and friends, his artistic life to devote his energy to, he finally crossed the bridge to acceptance. William could have easily gotten stuck between denial and anger and never accepted the loss of his foot. The devastating consequence of that decision would have been ultimately forfeiting his life to sorrow. Over time he began to realize the new life he had been given, a life he never thought possible, but one that provided him immense joy and fulfillment.
