Mum-to-be Styling

As the fashion expert of my friend group, and as a mum myself, I get a lot of requests to help style growing bumps, I love to guide fellow mums pick the outfits that will dress them during this very special time in their life.

So, if you're looking to surprise a soon to be iconic mama in your life with a thoughtful first Mother's Day present, or looking for the perfect way to treat yourself while you wait to meet your baby, these are the investment pieces I always recommend to really maximise the style mileage of any maternity wardrobe.

The Basics

Let's start with the classics, the foundations that will become go-tos during these months. First a pair of indigo skinny or mom jeans you can wear with loose tops, oversized jumpers or even bralettes. On that same note, black jeggings are simply a must as they offer both versatility and comfort. Last I would suggest getting a couple of basic tees (sleeveless if the due date is around the summer or long sleeved if you have a winter baby)

The party pieces

Unless you've been invited to a gala or black-tie event, opt for simple styles you can dress up or down depending of the occasion. I would recommend a nude or black midi dress you can pair with low heeled sandals and a blazer for a cocktail or with a fascinator and a cute clutch for a wedding.

The cosy essentials

Whether this mummy is a homebody or a social butterfly, once the bump starts growing, chilling at home becomes every pregnant person's preferred way to spend the days. Make it a priority to invest in pyjamas, joggers, and oversized sweat tops to feel super comfy in. Plus, most of these can be worn during the months of maternity leave.
