Known for its grounding and balancing aroma, the oil is valued for its ability to calm intense emotions such as anger and is especially supportive during periods of major change. As a natural vasoconstrictor, it may help with varicose veins and haemorrhoids, and is traditionally used for heavy menstruation, excessive sweating, bronchitis, cough, haemorrhage, and fluid retention. It can ease muscular cramps, support menstrual balance, and help relieve symptoms of arthritis and rheumatic discomfort. Used in a vaporizer, it promotes clearer breathing and relaxation, benefiting conditions like asthma, bronchitis, and whooping cough. Its wood was used for ships, buildings, sarcophagi, and carvings of gods. Tradition claims the cross of Christ was made from cypress, yet its botanical name Sempervirens translates to “live forever,” reflecting eternal life and strength.
