Latin Name:Boswellia Carterii Part of Plant Used: Resin Source: Oman Extraction Method: Steam Distillation This pure Frankincense essential oil is steam distilled from the resin of the Boswellia carterii tree, part of the Burseraceae family, and is also known as Olibanum. The name comes from the French word franc, meaning luxuriant, and it was one of the first gums, alongside myrrh, to be used as incense. The tree is native to the Middle East and is often found in natural bonsai-like formations in the harsh. Frankincense is said to symbolize divinity. This oil is highly popular in aromatherapy for its calming properties. It is believed to help heal wounds and prevent scars. In cosmetic products, it is used to tone the face, reduce wrinkles, and prevent stretch marks. Frankincense essential oil is known to ease anxiety, stress, asthma, bronchitis, laryngitis, and coughs.
