Description

Lemon Essential Oil is extracted from the fresh peel of Citrus limon through cold expression and is known for its sharp, refreshing aroma. This uplifting oil helps sharpen concentration and is often used in room fresheners for offices and banks. Traditionally, it has been used to ease rheumatism, arthritis, and gout, as well as various skin issues such as abscesses, boils, carbuncles, and acne. It is also valued for boosting the immune system and supporting the body’s natural cleansing processes. When used in an oil burner, the vapours are believed to help with colds, laryngitis, headaches, and flu symptoms, while the scent can lift the spirits and ease depression, irritability, stress, lethargy, and fatigue. A few drops in bath water or blended into massage oil may assist with digestive discomfort, low energy, infections, obesity, rheumatism, and emotional stress, and it is also used to help relieve hangovers. Native to India and possibly China, the lemon was brought to Europe by the Crusaders and became widely cultivated in Genoa during the fifteenth century. Rich in vitamins A, B, and C, lemons were historically given to sailors to prevent scurvy and other deficiencies. They were later introduced to America by Christopher Columbus, and the Spanish conquests further spread their cultivation. Early use focused on medicinal and ornamental purposes, with culinary applications becoming common only later.
