The Nikon Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II is a rugged and lightweight (675g) professional lens that has been completely re-designed. This second-generation workhorse lens now features an internal zoom, faster AF, and a new optical construction. Plus, it is now lighter, sharper, better balanced, and better for video. The Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II lens is both easier to handle and tougher than its predecessor (the Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S). Thanks to the new internal zoom mechanism, there’s no shift in the centre of gravity when changing focal lengths - photographers can zoom handheld without needing to adjust their grip, and video shooters won’t need to rebalance the lens on a gimbal. In addition, the internal zoom means fewer moving parts are exposed to the elements and protection gets dialled all the way up with Nikon’s pro-grade weather sealing. Multi-focusing system Stills and video shooters will benefit massively from Nikon’s next-generation multi-focusing system. This is the first zoom lens in the Z series line-up to boast Nikon’s Silky Swift Voice Coil Motor: AF performance is 5x faster and 50% quieter, plus focus tracking is 60% quicker when zooming. New S-line optical design Fewer elements are used to greater effect in an optical design that boasts dual-sided aspherical lens elements and ED glass. Image quality is superb, and the lens is lighter. Internal zoom Internal zoom means that lens barrel doesn’t extend or retract. The centre of gravity stays consistent, and shots stay on point. Smoother, better-defined bokeh The new optical design boasts precision crafted aspherical lens elements that shape the light beautifully. Background and foreground bokeh is well defined, and graded so smoothly that you could be forgiven for thinking you shot with a fast prime lens. Rounded 11-blade aperture A new 11-blade aperture produces more circular bokeh, while the new S-line optical design ensures point light sources like stars and city lights will be sharp and clear. Coupled with the constant f/2.8 aperture and close focusing prowess of this professional zoom lens, you can shoot cinematic close-ups in any light. Or go for low-light nightscapes and landscapes. Better handling for video Internal zoom means no need to rebalance the lens if using a gimbal, and it’s easier to use heavy accessories. With focus breathing cut in half compared to the previous generation of this zoom lens, transitions couldn’t look more natural. Even during extreme focus pulls, your angle of view won't change.
