Flowers are held on upright or arching spikes and appear periodically throughout the year with low maintenance requirements. Note: Plant comes in a 12cm nursery pot as standard, unless a decorative pot cover is included as an option. Keep compost moist during warmer months, but reduce watering to occasional in winter. Ideally, let them stand in a tray of water or sink to soak for an hour or two, then let excess water drain away completely. Give them a good soak when quite dry rather than watering little and often, preferring soft, tepid water. Phalaenopsis love humidity, making a bright kitchen or bathroom ideal. Mist leaves occasionally, especially in heated rooms. Don't worry if aerial roots grow outside the pot—in the wild, they grow in tree crooks and use these roots to absorb air moisture. They don't mind being overcrowded, so only repot when growth suffers. While they usually flower once a year, trimming stems to just above the first node after flowering can encourage a second flush faster. Keep temperatures even, avoiding big drops at night.
