Description

A familys journey across the USA around Christmas time. The mother and the daughter are clairvoyants, and the father is an introverted alcoholic, while the son is a religious zealot. The mother has a dream about her own mother that she recounts to her husband, who seems to know its interpretation but shies away. They are suddenly seeking to reach the dying grandmother before she passes.Grandmother is an immigrant from Egypt who married a Czech immigrant whom she met in New York. She escaped Egypt as she had then lost her young husband along with her faith in her dads slogans about the 1952 revolution that turned the country upside down. She escaped along with her best friend Pepper, and her family, who ran away in fear of religious persecution against the Jews of Egypt.Grandfather, on the other hand is an admitted womanizer, whom his wife tries to reform incessantly. He is also a nonbeliever, always mocking Grandmothers religious belief.The journey delves into the individual characters along with their interactions and internal conflicts.The family grows closer to one another during the trip and visit, as they face their conflicts. A special experience of grandmom with neardeath and her description of the afterlife is interrupted.
