Onimikìg is Timothy Archambault's second album for Ideologic Organ and one of the more singular flute records you'll put on all year. The pieces are inspired by Indigenous brontomancy, or divination by thunder, with each composition focused on a different extended technique linked to claps, rolls, peals, rumbles and cloud-to-ground strikes. The result is sparse but vivid, somewhere between solo instrument study, contemporary composition and deep listening record. It asks for attention, then rewards it with detail.SIDE ONE:1. *2. CG I3. CG II4. Claps5. Inversions6. PealsSIDE TWO:1. Rolls2. Rumbles I3. Rumbles II4. Rumbles III5. Din Of Silence (For The Indigenous Children)
