Description

ROSEMARY BBQ - Barbecue Rosemary, botanically known as Rosmarinus officinalis Barbecue is one of the most versatile herb plants to grow. This undemanding easy to grow shrub has a bushy upright habit with green aromatic foliage. It produces masses of light blue flowers from late Spring into the Autumn. This vigorously growing herb can grow to up to 1.5 metres. It is ideal for growing as hedges, for screening sections of the garden or as part of a herb garden. POLLINATOR FRIENDLY - This fragrant deer and rabbit resistant shrub, is loved by pollinating insects but can also be used to naturally repel bugs including spiders. It pairs well with Thyme, Sage and Lavender. If left unpruned, it can become straggly and untidy so trim during May and June but avoid hard pruning into older wood. Regular picking of the leaves, especially the tips, acts as an ongoing pruning regime and helps keep the plant bushy and compact. IDEAL FOR COOKING - This culinary Rosemary is great for growing outdoors near a barbecue in beds or borders but thrives well in containers or patio pots for indoor and outdoor growing. As it produces very long straight woody stems, they are sturdy enough for using as flavourful skewers for grilling vegetables, fish, seafood, and meats. The fresh leaves can be tossed straight onto your cooking or dried to flavour a variety of dishes including soups, roasts and stews, casseroles, sauces and dressings. GROWING CONDITIONS - Native to the Mediterranean, Rosemary is very drought tolerant once established and hardy for UK growing, coping with temperatures down to -10°C. Thriving in well draining soil, Rosemary BBQ prefers neutral to slightly acid soils. It is best grown in a sheltered area receiving at least 6 to 8 hours of bright direct sunlight a day. Too much shade causes spindly growth. Even though it can cope with its soil on the dryer side, water every few days especially when there has been no rain or when growing in a pot or container.
