The Transit is the name of a line of light commercial vehicles manufactured by Ford/Germany and Ford/Great Britain since 1953 for the European market. The real turning point was the Transit "Second Series" introduced to the market in 1965. The vehicle configuration, featuring the front engine, wide track and low load plan was ideal for optimizing transport tasks. The Transit was also available, a real innovation at the time, in a huge number of versions and fittings from the van, to the cabin with caisson to the minibus.
