TOMATO BLACK MOON - Tomato Black Moon is a heirloom variety known for its distinct, oval shaped fruit. An indeterminate variety, its fruit is approximately 4cm in length, with a good resistance to splitting. Suitable for pot growing indoors and outdoors. UNIQUE FRUIT- Black Moon is best known for its unique, oval shaped, dark purple-black fruits. The tomatoes add something a little different in salads and sandwiches with their robust and smoky, savoury flavour. GROWING CONDITIONS - Tomatoes thrive in full sun, with well draining soil. Increase water in hot weather and reduce in cool weather to keep the soil constantly damp but not waterlogged. Before planting, adding organic matter to your soil can help improve its fertility and moisture retention. A spacing of 60cm between plants is recommended. ONGOING CARE - To maximize your yield, apply a slow-release fertiliser at the time of planting and include a high potash feed every two weeks during the growing season. CARBETH PLANTS - We are a Scottish based company with over 20 years experience in horticulture. With a large variety of plants for the garden, allotments, indoors and also gift wrapped for special occasions. We pride ourselves on prompt delivery as well as our quality and affordable plants.
Tomato plants in 9cm pots need consistent care to thrive. Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged, watering when the top inch feels dry and avoiding wetting the leaves to prevent diseases. Place them in a sunny spot with 6–8 hours of light daily, or supplement with grow lights if indoors, and maintain temperatures between 18–24°C during the day and above 10°C at night. When the plants reach 15–20cm tall, repot them into larger pots, containers, or directly into the ground, ensuring the new space is deep enough to bury part of the stem to encourage strong root growth. Provide support with a small stake, remove yellowing leaves, and pinch off side shoots (suckers) if growing indeterminate varieties. Check regularly for pests like aphids or spider mites, and ensure good airflow to prevent fungal issues. If moving outdoors, harden them off gradually over 7–10 days by exposing them to outdoor conditions for a few hours daily. With proper care, your plants will flourish and be ready for fruiting.
