In an unpopular move with both staff and enthusiasts alike, GNER decided to abandon the use of cast nameplates in favour of vinyl graphics and so both names featured during the GNER period, 'City of Leeds' (October 1999 to December 2001) and 'Cancer Research UK' (February 2002 to February 2009), were never featured on cast nameplates.
