The Adenium, better known as the desert rose, is a particularly beautiful plant. As the name suggests, it comes from the dry parts of the desert in East and North-East Africa. Locally, the Adenium can grow up to 5 metres high with a beautiful bare stem full of character. Fortunately, it will not grow as tall at home. A striking feature of the Adenium is its beautiful pink flowers, fresh green leaves and the whimsical shape of its stem.
Because the Adenium is a desert rose, it needs plenty of sunlight, preferably south-facing. If the Adenium does not get enough light, it will not bloom. Give the Adenium small sips of water regularly. The plant usually blooms until the end of July and the second flowering period is in September to October. If the Adenium grows too large, it can be partially pruned back, which is best done when it has finished flowering. If the plant develops side shoots, it is best to prune them away. This way, the plant can focus its energy only on flowering at the top. When the plant is in bloom, it needs more water than normal.
