The Ficus Lyrata has been one of the most popular houseplants for decades! The plant is easily recognizable by its large leaves. Because the leaves have a narrow underside and a wider end, the plant is also called the violin plant. When the leaves are dried, they can be used for the outside of cigars. That also explains the second nickname of the plant, which is the tobacco plant. Originally, the Ficus Lyrata comes from the African rainforests, where it can grow up to 20 meters high with leaves of 50 cm in size. Doesn't that sound like music to your ears?

Ficus Lyrata is a real sun worshipper. They love a place in front of the window, the more (sun)light the better. Furthermore, when watering it is better not to give too much water at once. It is best to keep the soil slightly moist. It is not bad if the soil dries out a little. Also, the violin plant likes high humidity, so it is recommended to water the plant occasionally. Do choose a place out of the reach of children and pets because the leaves are slightly toxic and if ingested, they cause bumps on the skin. Eventually, Ficus Lyrata can grow over 3 meters indoors!
