Crassula ovata 'Hobbit', also known as the Jade plant, is a unique cultivar of the popular succulent Crassula ovata. Its distinctive feature is its tubular, cylindrical leaves that curl up to resemble the toes of a mythical hobbit. This succulent is native to South Africa and thrives well in dry, arid conditions, making it a low-maintenance houseplant. Just like other Crassula ovata varieties. With proper care, it can develop clusters of small star-shaped white or pink flowers during its flowering period, adding to its ornamental value. However, this is will most likely happen in warmer climates in the south of Europe. Flowers almost never appear in cooler climates. However, even without flowers the plant is a beautiful addition to any room.
Crassula ovata 'Hobbit' prefers a spot with indirect sunlight and is best placed indoors near a south- or west-facing window. It is important to let the soil dry out completely between watering to prevent root rot. This succulent is very sensitive to too much water. Crassula ovata 'Hobbit' may benefit from occasional pruning to maintain its compact shape and remove dead or leggy growth.
