Dracaenas, also known as dragon trees, are native to tropical Africa or Asia. Their name is derived from the Greek word drakaina, meaning female dragon. When the plant is damaged, red resin flows from the 'wounds'. This resin is also called dragon's blood and has been used medicinally since ancient times. The Dracaena bicolor has a striking appearance. The beautiful dark green leaves with a subtle dark red glow give the plant a unique appearance. Moreover, the Dracaena is very easy to care for.

This Dracaena is easy to look after: it likes bright light and a humid atmosphere. Regularly spraying the leaves with water helps keeping the plant beautiful. The plant consumes little water: you only need to water it when the soil feels dry. In summer, it is better to keep the soil a bit more moist. The ideal temperature for this plant is between 18°C and 25°C.
