Description

Prunus tibetica Birch Bark Cherry Tree Bare Root 6ft Tall. Prunus tibetica, commonly known as the Birch Bark Cherry, is an ornamental tree valued for its distinctive copper-brown bark and upright, elegant habit. Supplied as a bare root tree approximately 6ft tall, it is grown and selected at our Norfolk nursery. This variety is particularly noted for its smooth, peeling bark, which reveals pale layers beneath and provides strong winter interest. In early spring, small white flowers appear, followed by fresh green foliage that turns golden-yellow in autumn. At maturity, the tree typically reaches approximately 20–30ft (6–9m). Fully hardy and adaptable, Prunus tibetica performs well in most soil types and prefers a sunny or lightly shaded position. Best suited to planting directly into the ground where it can develop its natural form. What You Receive: 1 bare root Prunus tibetica Birch Bark Cherry tree. Approx. 6ft tall. Clearly labelled variety. Roots wrapped in moist compost for protection during transit. Planting & Care: Soak roots in water for 1–2 hours before planting. Plant in well-drained soil. Position with the root flare at soil level. Backfill, firm gently, and water thoroughly. Stake if planting in exposed areas. Water regularly during the first growing season. Once established, Prunus tibetica is low maintenance and provides year-round seasonal interest.
