Because it is self-fertile, it can produce fruit without another cherry tree nearby, making it ideal for gardens of all sizes. The tree is grown on Colt rootstock, which is vigorous and typically reaches around 15–20 ft (4.5–6 m) at maturity. Whether planted as a single feature tree or as part of a productive fruit garden, Stella provides dependable harvests of delicious cherries year after year. Planting & Care (Potted Trees): Our trees are supplied in 7.5-litre pots and can be planted year-round, avoiding frozen or waterlogged ground. As they are already established in soil, transplant shock is minimal and they settle quickly into their new location. Choose a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the pot and the same depth. Remove the tree from the pot, gently loosen any circling roots, and place it so the graft union sits just above soil level. Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water well. Stake if necessary in windy areas and mulch around the base to retain moisture. Water regularly during the first growing season and prune lightly in winter to maintain shape. With proper care, your Stella Cherry Tree will thrive and provide delicious home-grown cherries for many years.
