Not only do the leaves smell great, but they are also edible, and they can be used to jazz up summer drinks or salads - and in late summer, you have the added bonus of showy clusters of bright scarlet flowers to enjoy! Garden care: Move plants to a frost-free place when the temperatures start to drop (a greenhouse or unheated conservatory would be ideal), and keep drier in winter. Trim the tips throughout the growing season to encourage bushier growth.
